Grab a warm cup of tea, sit back and enjoy! My genealogy journey began with the death of my grandmother Esther in 1989. I got to talking to my father who told me he couldn't understand why he had so many aunts and uncles, but was the son of an only child. So I began my search.
My Grandfather Arvon Jones, was the only son of Thomas J & Maribe Bell Jones. However, both had been married before.
Thomas and his first wife Jemimah came to the US from Wales on 3/4/1883 to New York, then to Iowa to join his brother who was already there and using the last name of Jones. (In Wales the family was know as Johns.) Between Thomas & Jemimah there was 5 children.
Maribe Steele was born in Iowa. She had married Thomas L. Bell and had 7 children.
So, grandpa Arvon was an only child with 12 sibblings.
