How I got started

My genealogy journey began with the death of my grandmother Esther in 1989. I got to talking to my father, who told me he couldn't understand why he had so many aunts and uncles, but was the son of an only child. So I began my search.

My Grandfather Arvon Jones, was the only son of Thomas J & Maribe Bell Jones. However, both had been married before.

Thomas and his first wife Jimimah came to the US from Wales on 3/4/1883 to New York, then to Iowa to join his "brother who was already there and using the last name of Jones". (In Wales the family was know as John.) Between Thomas & Jimimah there was 5 children.

Maribe Steele was born in Iowa. She had married Thomas L. Bell and had 7 children.

So, grandpa Arvon was an only child with 12 siblings.

Simpson Line

I have a great deal of info on the Simpson Line. However, I've only been able to confirm a few generations back. I have information going back to Ireland and Scotland on them, but cannot confirm it.

I seem to be missing information on my Heggen line, as soon as I get it pulled together, I'll post it.

Jones/John Line

This is the line that I have the most valuable information on. I have been able to confirm back 5 generations, taking them back to Wales to the surname of John. I have in my possession a "diary" of my great grandfather's that had much information on the family, including birth and death dates and weddings.

Peterson Line

This is my most secretive branch and also a very interesting one...
